A device that detects the voltage of an analogue signal and transforms it to a digital, or numeric, value is known as a LED Analog To Digital Convertor. Because analogue signals can have an unlimited range of values, the microprocessor on the development board cannot deal with them directly. When the analogue signal is transformed to a numeric value, the system can analyse and reason about it just like any other number. The converter is necessary for a microprocessor to read analogue signals and voltages.
